Property Care Association Best New Member
This month has been an exciting one for us as we were recognised at a huge industry event held by the Property Care Association (PCA) at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
The Property Care Association represents the structural repair sector of the United Kingdom, including flood remediation, damp-proofing, structural waterproofing, wood preservation and of course, invasive weed control industries.
The 2014 Conference, AGM and Award’s dinner began with five speakers, each of whom held a unique insight to the Property Care Association’s sector. Chris Netherton from The National Flood School began the conference with a presentation on flooding where he discussed the different types of flood waters as well as the combination of different groups that all aid in clearing up after a property has been affected.
Douglas Kent discussed building conservation on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) with interesting information on the creation of SPAB and why it needs to exist. Munters Air Treatments was represented by Glen Wilson who introduced the company and explained their level of expertise in moisture management.
Professor Naresh Magan delivered a talk on mould and the work being undertaken at Cranfield University in a presentation put together by himself and Dr David Aldred. The final speaker was Tim Blackman from Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) who helped sponsor the conference and delivered a short presentation on the work that they do as well as the training opportunities that are available within their industry.
We were incredibly grateful to be honoured by the Property Care Association as the Best New Member Application in the PCA’s sixth year of offering awards. The award was assigned by an independent panel of judges including Douglas Kent of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, Graham Perrior of the NHBC and Gerald Kelly of CITB.
The Chief Executive of the PCA, Steve Hodgson, said, “The team at TP Knotweed Solutions work hard to ensure they implement the best systems and procedures to run the business effectively and that came out in their application for membership.”
Many other awards were granted to some remarkable businesses after the AGM meeting and three course dinner. Contractor Of The Year went to Brick Tie Limited, Project Of The Year went to Trace Remedial Building Services, Employee Of The Year went to Fraser Rafton from Dryfix Preservation and the Innovation and Sustainability award went to Wise Property Care.
We’re immensely proud to be presented with the award for Best New Member and we hope that we continue to go from strength to strength in order to honour that title.
