Tree Surgery & Vegetation Clearance for Commercial Sites UK Wide
Vegetation, trees, and dense undergrowth on a development site are a programme obstruction. Left unmanaged, they slow access, delay groundworks, and create compliance risk. TP Knotweed Solutions provides professional tree surgery, whole tree felling, stump grinding, vegetation clearance, and site preparation services for construction companies, developers, local authorities, and land managers across the UK. All work is carried out by qualified specialists using appropriate plant and machinery, in compliance with relevant legislation.
Tree & Vegetation Clearance Services
We offer a comprehensive range of tree and vegetation management services, delivered by qualified arborists and vegetation clearance specialists. Work is carried out both manually and using specialist plant and machinery, depending on site conditions and scale. Where possible, felled material is chipped or processed on site to minimise haulage costs and divert waste from landfill.
Tree Surgery
Early-stage ecological advice to identify constraints, assess viability, and shape the design of a development scheme before surveys are commissioned.
Whole Tree Felling
Safe felling of trees of all sizes, including complex and confined site removals.
Stump Grinding
Complete stump removal to ground level following felling, leaving the site clear for development.
Chipping & Mulching
On-site processing of felled material to reduce volume, minimise haulage, and lower disposal costs.
Vegetation Clearance
Clearance of scrub, dense undergrowth, and invasive vegetation ahead of development or site preparation.
Mitigation Works
Ecological mitigation measures carried out in compliance with planning conditions, including habitat protection and translocation.
Site Clearance & Land Preparation
Site clearance and land preparation are typically the first operations required on a new development project. Before any main construction activity can begin, the site must be cleared of obstructions, vegetation, trees, debris, old structures, and waste materials to ensure safe access, clear sightlines, and a compliant working environment. Our team handles the full scope of site clearance work, from initial strip-out through to land preparation ready for groundworks. Keeping clearance and preparation with a single contractor reduces coordination risk, saves time, and lowers overall cost.
Materials & Waste We Clear
- Vegetation and scrub, clearance and on-site processing
- Trees felling, processing, and stump removal
- Building debris, rubble, concrete, and tarmac
- General waste and fly-tipped material
- Fencing and boundary walls
- Soil disposal and topsoil removal where required
Compliance Note
Site clearance involving the disposal of certain materials, including hazardous waste, requires appropriate permits and licensed contractors. Our team operates in compliance with all relevant legislation and can advise on disposal requirements at the point of enquiry.
Working in Ecologically Sensitive Areas
Tree felling, vegetation clearance, and site preparation on or adjacent to habitats with ecological value must be carried out in compliance with legislation protecting wildlife and their habitats. Certain operations, including works affecting nesting birds, bat roosts, or protected species, may require an ecological survey before clearance can proceed, and in some cases a licence from Natural England. Our team carries out mitigation works in compliance with planning conditions, and can coordinate with ecology consultants where required. If your site has known ecological constraints, we recommend raising these at the point of enquiry so we can advise on the appropriate approach.

Frequently Asked Questions
Tree felling is subject to legislation including the Forestry Act 1967, which requires a felling licence in many circumstances. Trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) require prior consent from the local planning authority before any work can take place. Trees in Conservation Areas are also subject to notification requirements. Our team can advise on what approvals are required for your specific site at the point of enquiry.
Vegetation clearance is best programmed to avoid the main bird nesting season, which typically runs from March to August inclusive. Clearance during this period is not automatically prohibited, but a check for active nests must be carried out by a competent person immediately before works begin. If active nests are found, those areas must be left undisturbed until nesting is complete. We can advise on appropriate timing and mitigation as part of the survey process.
Yes. Where site conditions allow, felled trees and woody material can be chipped or mulched on site. This significantly reduces haulage volumes and disposal costs. Chipped material can in some cases be used as a surface cover or mulch within the site, subject to agreement. We confirm the most practical approach as part of the initial survey and quotation.
Yes. We are experienced in working within the constraints of live development sites, including compliance with site-specific health and safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments. We can programme our works to co-ordinate with groundworks contractors and other trades on site.
If protected species — such as bats, nesting birds, or great crested newts, are discovered during clearance operations, works in the affected area must stop immediately and an ecologist must be consulted. In some cases, a licence from Natural England will be required before works can recommence. We work alongside ecology consultants where required and can advise on the appropriate course of action.
